Safety First

We show kids the fun of cooking.
Cooking  is a family affair, atlas kids must learn & since each kid is
different it  is important that adults consider a kids abilities when assigning
kitchen duties  or teaching.  Remember, kids under 10 years old rarely
understand the inherent  dangers in a kitchen & adults must be present,
closely supervise the  preparation of foods.  We recommend task by age groups
such as  below.

OVER AGE
  5

Stir ingredients together in a bowl; rinse foods under cold
water; use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes in dough

OVER AGE
  9

Use a butter knife or plastic knife to spread peanut butter
  or slice soft cheese

OVER AGE
  10

Squeeze garlic from a garlic press; use electrical kitchen
appliances such as a blender, food processor, electric mixer; microwave or
  toaster oven

OVER AGE
  12

Chop or slice with a paring knife; use stove top to turn
burners on & off & select oven temperature; flip pancakes on a hot
griddle; place a tray of cookies in the oven; peel vegetables; use an electric
can opener; shred cheese with a hand grater

OVER AGE
  14

Operate the stove top without adult supervision; drain cooked
spaghetti into a colander; remove a tray of cookies from the
  oven

IMPORTANT:  This is only a guide, it is the
adults responsibility to assign task & then closely supervise the
preparation of food, we only provide the basic's, it is YOUR responsibility to
see that it is done safely.

A kids mind is like a sponge, quickly
absorbing new things....take advantage of this.   Do even better by searching
the internet & other sources for food and kitchen safety guides so that
while you teach your kids to cook good you also teach them to cook
  SAFE.
