TOOLS YOU WILL NEED:  Skillet, wooden spoon or large fork, measuring cup & spoons, can opener.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 LB BASIC HAMBURGER
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 3 Tbsp chili powder or more to taste
  • 1 cans (16 oz each) pinto beans in chili sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded & finely chopped, optional

DIRECTIONS:  Heat vegetable oil in a wide, deep skillet.  Add hamburger & using a large spoon or fork to break up the meat, cook until the meat is browned.  Add remaining ingredients & cook 15 minutes or more to let the flavors blend.  Salt & pepper to taste.

SERVINGS:  4                                        TIME:  30 minutes

SERVING TIPS:  Serve with crisp French bread.  Very good served over rice or pasta & a little shredded cheese or sour cream on top.  For a quick meal try serving with sliced fresh fruit.
